Community art-making to bring care and activation to the future home of the Shaker Museum in Chatham, NY

Interpretations of the Shaker Gift Drawings were installed on the fence surrounding the future home of the Shaker Museum. The painting utilizes both handmade and machine-made interpretations of gift-drawing imagery.

Care & Activation

    During Chatham Day in Summer of 2024 community members from across the regoin picked up brushes and joined in the making!

  • Freedom to Create

    A creative engagement that allowed for free-form expression from participants while incorporating the imagery from the Shaker Gift Drawings.

  • Collective Voices

    Bringing the museum to town and inviting community members to join means all ages and folks from across the region joined to create the painting.
